After an eight-year career in the U.S. military, Walt wanted to live in Asia. He joined a small multi-national Real Estate / Insurance marketing firm as a salesperson, working in their Okinawa, Japan, office. Much to his surprise, Walt enjoyed very early success in sales. He was promoted to sales trainer, regional sales trainer, and finally to Vice President-Sales. In the process, he re-wrote the company's training manuals, produced training tapes, and edited the company's monthly newsmagazine for its salespeople. Over a 10-year period, he trained more than 1,000 salespeople and conducted more than 2,000 sales/motivational training sessions and seminars. In the course of his sales training and motivation, he traveled to such exotic locations as Tokyo, Taipei, Manila, Seoul, and Hong Kong.

After so many years of living out of a suitcase, Walt wanted to slow down his lifestyle; so he moved to the quiet little island of Guam. It was in Guam that Walt discovered that he was a "closet computer nerd." At the time, he was part-owner in a small Insurance Agency, and they needed a computer system to keep track of salespeople, customers, premiums, and commissions. Walt took on the task of figuring out how to use an Accounting program on an Apple II computer--and the rest, as they say, is history.

In 1987, Walt joined the Beta test program for a relational database computer program that was to be called 4^th Dimension (4D). Since that time, he has become an internationally-recognized expert on the product. His 4D solutions have helped to manage the operations of real estate brokers; gift shops; wholesale general merchandisers; an investment banker; a non-profit organization; a large multi-national insurance company; and even ACI US, the publisher of 4^th Dimension in the United States. In his 4D "practice," 

Walt has also called on his writing, training, and speaking skills. He has conducted 4D training in many cities around the world; he has been a keynote speaker at more than 15 4D conferences; he has written several dozen Technical Notes on 4^th Dimension; he is a regular columnist in the Dimensions Tech Journal, and he is the author of three books on 4^th Dimension: two user handbooks and a how-to book for 4D consultants. 

Walt is the Editor of Dimensions Tech Journal, the leading 4th Dimensions technical magazine. Walt is also the author of DocuPOWER, a document management system that uses a database (4^th Dimension) to manage and maintain documents created with a word processor (4D Write).
